Eateries, Activities, and Entertainment

Coffee

  • O'Hori's has the best fresh beans and has two locations

  • The Teahouse is a nice walk up Canyon Road and has great tea, coffee and food

Breakfast

  • Counter Culture – best breakfast burrito but have to drive

  • The Teahouse – outrageous Eggs Benedict

  • Cafe Pasqual for anything – not to miss

  • The Pantry (downtown location) -for breakfast, a local’s fav 

Lunch

  • Del Charro for Chipotle chicken wings

  • The Compound for a burger (a James Beard restaurant) 

  • Counter Culture for a great big salad

  • Vinaigrette for a bigger salad with fun proteins

  • The Shed for local Mexican

Afternoon Snack

  • Kakawa for chocolate elixir, ice cream and goodies. Ancient recipes and really good chocolate.

Dinner

  • Martin's – nice outdoor patio

  • The Shed for Mexican

  • Desert Son of Santa Fe –wonderful jewelry, great shoes, bags and coats.   

  • Poke around on the Plaza downtown

Activities

  • Ojo Caliente – natural hot springs with a north and south location

  • Ten Thousand Waves – a nice spa with hot tubs. A bit fancier than Ojo Caliente but hot tubs instead of natural springs. They have a great restaurant too!

Activities

  • Atalaya - fairly strenuous hike

  • Dale Ball trail system – you can go for miles and miles taking turns where you want

  • Borrego Trail – You can do an hour loop or hike all the way to Tesuque or the Santa Fe Ski Basin. Also great for biking.  In the shade and has seasonal water.

  • Aspen Vista – a drive up near Santa Fe Ski Basin, high in altitude and when you get past the first ¼ mile you have the place to yourself. Nice views and easy hiking. The Aspen trees are out of this world there.

    Other things to explore:

  • Taos – that gorgeous canyon 

  • Madrid – a funky town south of Santa Fe for a lunch

  • Bandelier National Park 

  • Red and green chile – need I write more?
